HOW TO BECOME A PARTICIPANT OF RADIOACTIVE
AND/OR START YOUR OWN SHOW
>" A Participant of radioActive" (a non-collective member) defines anyone who is actively participating in radioActive, as a D.J. or in another form but has not yet met the Requirements to become a collective member. * Not all Participants need to become collective members. Participation is welcomed on many levels. ie: joining working groups, working on as needed projects, helping to do outreach, etc..
>Participants are allowed to start their own show after attending 1 New person/consensus meeting, 1 Tech Training, 1 general meeting and after shadowing 2 collective member's shows. They cannot, however, have a key to the studio until they become a collective member. They will need to have a collective member with a key stay with them when they are doing their own show until they have a key of their own.
>Participants do not have any decision making power at meetings until they become members but their input is welcomed and taken into consideration.
>They will need to pay dues of $5-$10 dollars a month once they have decided to begin actively participating in radioActive. “Active participation” is based upon when someone feels like they are personally committed and want to join radioActive, as opposed to just checking it out.
HOW TO BECOME A COLLECTIVE MEMBER:
>To become a collective member with radioActive the participant needs to have attended 1 New Person/consensus meeting, 1 Tech Training (more if they need to) until they are comfortable using all the equipment on their own and at least 2 general meetings.
>They will need to have joined at least 1 ongoing working group and be actively participating in that group. "Actively participating" means participating in the group's online discussions via e-mail if e-mail is accessible, attending the group's meetings whenever possible and when it is not possible, finding out what they missed and how they can assist with the decisions that were made, and participating in the projects that the group is working on. The participant is welcome to join more than 1 group if they have the interest and time to do so.
>The participant will need to have paid your dues regularly (unless a financial hardship arises and is brought to the treasurer).
>They need to have shadowed 4 shows with collective members... either a collective member’s show or their own show (if they have met the requirements to start a show). At least 2 of these shows need to be the show of a collective member and not their own. The participant is responsible for arranging these shadowings with key holding collective members.
>If the participant cannot make it to a general meeting, they will need to notify the collective ahead of time via e-mail or a phone call and get their dues to the treasurer A.S.A.P. They are also responsible for finding out what they missed in the meeting and where you can plug in.
>When the participant feels all of these requirements have been fulfilled, they will need to send an e-mail to the collective member's mailing list at members@radioiactiveradio.org, and give a short introduction of them self, their show (if they plan to have one) and how they feel that they and their show are reflective of the Mission Statement and Points of Unity.
>Lastly, the participant needs to be accepted into the collective by consensus from the collective members. Acceptance is based upon completion of the "how to become a collective member" guidelines, and if their show and ways of relating with the collective members, other participants and the community as a whole are not in contradiction with the Mission Statement and Points of Unity. This process will take a week to two weeks on average.
>If the collective members do not consense the participant in at this time, they will be notified by the collective of the concerns the collective has about their membership, and the collective will try to offer suggestions as to how those issues can be resolved. At that time the participant can, and is encouraged to, continue participating as a "participant of radioActive" and they may initiate membership reevaluation when they feel that the issue(s) have been resolved.
>At the time of consensus, the participant will be provided with a key to the studio and have all the perks and responsibilities of the rest of the collective members.
COLLECTIVE MEMBER RESPONSIBILITIES:
>Members need to maintain timely monthly dues payments, unless there is a financial hardship which is brought to the treasurer.
>Members need to attend the monthly general meeting, or if they cannot attend they need to notify the group in advance via e-mail or a phone call to someone who will be in attendance, and then they are responsible for finding out where their assistance is needed.
>Members need to be actively working with at least 1 ongoing working group to maintain member status and have their own key. "Actively participating" means participating in the group's online discussions via e-mail if e-mail is accessible, attending the group's meetings whenever possible and when it is not possible, finding out what they missed and how they can assist with the decisions that were made, and participating in the projects that the group is working on.
>Members need to volunteer from time to time to assist with a new person/consensus meeting for new participants. ** This will be enforced suckas!!
>Members need to volunteer from time to time to facilitate the monthly general meeting and/or volunteer for the other supporting roles in the meeting.
>Members need to be actively participating in decision making process during meetings and in the e-mail discussions when e-mail is accessible. When e-mail is not accessible, the member needs to let the collective know so that other methods of communication can be arranged.
>Members need to be actively participating in collective as needed projects from time to time such as tabling, events, benefits, flyer distribution etc..
>Members who have a scheduled show need to show up for their shows and if they know they are not keeping up with their show on a regular basis, they need to relinquish their time slot so that others in the collective may use it.
>Members need to help the group by doing their part to keep the studio and meeting lounge in a clean and usable state.
>Member's ways of relating with other collective members, participants and the community as a whole, as well as the content of their shows, need to not be in contradiction with the Mission Statement and Points of Unity.
>If these responsibilities are not being met (unless there is good reason which they have brought to the collective), the collective can consense to revoke a member's collective status or terminate participation all together. This will be based upon the “RASD Grounds for Review” document and the “The Process of Review for Violations”document.
